Galactic companions on this journey through space

Writing with opened eyes and heart, so full of wonder from last weekend. I want to write a post about it because I am overjoyed at the feelings I have been left with!

The first and most obvious takeaway I received was how powerful it is to be surrounded by people who live in the same reality as you. Those who feel with their energetic senses. Those who have lived on the fringes of society. Those who know what it’s like to live from the perspective of the Earth itself. Those who are also sensitive to the complex layers of this life. I am so grateful to this festival for gathering us in one place!

There was a profound field of energy surrounding the entire weekend. To know that in approaching any single person, you are guaranteed to engage with someone who is likewise on a mission to build a new reality on this planet, and that there’s no limit to what you can bring up – POWERFUL. This alone was a paradigm shift for me.

But then there were the speakers – Lee Harris, master channeler and beacon for the conscious community; Patrick Kronfli, organizer of global meditations through the compelling platform Unify; global leader in innovative ecological thought Daniel Pinchbeck; Ascension guide and shepherd of the Earth, Sandra Walter, who also created the Sunday Global Unity Meditations (more info here); and so many amazing others. What a total honor to connect with all of them personally!

And because this festival is only in its second year, there is a beautiful intimacy about it that feels like it brings your heart into this web of evolved people who feel like good friends.

(Super) regrettably, I didn’t realize the booths were only available on Saturday, and I decided to wait until Sunday to shop. BIG regret on this one!! There were so many amazing opportunities to connect. I will just have to wait until next year….

On Sunday was a gathering of all of us in a room underneath a glorious chandelier to meditate with the support of two powerful sound healers, a woman and a man, and what a profound space it was to be with everyone! It’s not often that you get to join forces with that many conscious people, and I was experiencing a beautiful connection with Source, an alignment of my energetic field on SO many levels, and a few reeeeally potent downloads that brought me into exciting new levels of clarity about my purpose.

After the meditation we were led by Sandra Walter in an exercise where we all divided into groups, brainstormed about what we saw for the new earth, and brought it all back to share with the whole – once all ideas were shared, we supercharged the visions with groupwide OMs. WOWOW, it was amazing to see the diversity of ideas everyone had! We discussed things as a cleanup crew for the old ways; reeducation for all peoples based on emotional intelligence; new protocols for support with life experiences such as death and birth; even an airport for spaceships! It’s such a transformational exercise to sit and imagine what the earth can be like once the paradigm of disempowerment and misinformation and parasitism has fully passed. Back to that whole quote by Socrates, “If you want to create change, focus all of your energy upon building the new, not fighting the old.” This festival absolutely nailed it!

And while there were many people there who I didn’t get to meet, I am really really grateful to have been a part of this festival and feel privileged to have gotten to experience it. I can already feel it will expand immensely as the demand for this kind of gathering increases with our spiritual awakening. Many thanks to the organizers and supporters of this event for bringing it here!

I was called to attend this year’s Conscious Media Festival to frolic around and meet people, learn about their projects, connect creators, and play among the brilliant minds who are developing plans for NEW EARTH. This is utterly exciting beyond what I can say!!

This time next week, I will be expanding, expanding!

But wait just a minute now. What is “New Earth”?!

New Earth is a concept put forth by Eckhart Tolle, in his book with the same title. His first book, “The Power of Now,” was utterly life changing for me, and the way I look at it, “The Power of Now” is about the awakening process of the individual, whereas “A New Earth” builds on that concept for bringing about the awakening of the collective – covering ideas on innovative approaches to topics such as mental health, community structures, money, humanitarianism, etc. Well in the larger context of conscious communities, “New Earth” has become the key phrase to describe the new paradigms that are on their way. Ideas such as community farming, communal living, earthships, intergalactic & interdimensional awareness, and other future-based concepts all fall under the banner, and Conscious Media Festival is all about connecting people who are committed to making media that promotes it all!

Socrates said, “if you want to create change, focus all of your energy upon building the new, not fighting the old.” I live my life by this quote, and to me, bringing people together under the cause of dreaming about the NEW, instead of marching in the streets lamenting the old, is absoluuuutely the way to go.

So you can imagine that I was sooo excited when I found out about this festival. YES I will go, and I will bring my A-game, because this is a cause big enough for me to rally all of myself behind!!!

The festival is in its second year, and as such there is a lot innovation and creativity yet to come. I haven’t yet gotten the privilege of meeting too many of the minds behind it, but I feel overwhelmingly grateful and giddy about this opportunity to deepen my connection to the creators of this new world.

I don’t know about you, but I am a person who’s completely devoted to the efforts of evolving our world, on every front – I believe that we are living in a world that’s increasingly crumbling around us, such as evidenced by: governmental ineptitude, the blandness & inauthenticity of the mainstream media, the harmfulness of our food industry and health care system, the general feeling of insecurity we all have around the ability of our “leaders” to take care of our needs…

By now, everyone is feeling that our systems are at least somewhat outdated. And of course, there’s nothing wrong with “resisting” or “fighting” for your cause, I mean do what your heart tells you and all that, but if you ask me, it’s incredibly inefficient in terms of energy and resource management to fight “against.” As most spiritually aware people know, anything you fight against grows bigger against you, because you give your power to it. You can be “anti” something, but it is WAY more effective to focus on the cause of “pro” the opposite. For instance, if you are “anti-hunger,” you could switch to being “pro-food drives,” and it’s the same cause, but in a different (and wayyy more empowering) framework.

So NO I will not give my life force to the “resistance,” I will spend my energy dreaming about the new world, envisioning what I actually WANT to have in my ideal communities, and gravitating toward people who also understand that the game of “resistance” is engineered to tie up your energy so you don’t build the new.

Well anyway, I don’t know about you, but depending on where you’re at in your journey of self-transformation, you may feel like you’re on a MISSION. And if you feel this way – if you feel a calling to learn more about what is coming in (particularly energetically), and to explore alternative, cutting-edge approaches to world healing and innovation, this festival is a huge opportunity for you (especially if you live in Austin!). It’s an investment, but where else are you going to get access to all of it, all in one place, where you can actually meet and talk to such global leaders?

For a list of presenters, see here. (Sandra Walter! Daniel Pinchbeck! Collective Evolution! And more….)
For a schedule of the event, see here.
For ticket information, go here.

If you’re in Austin and unable to attend the entire festival, I recommend looking into Saturday night’s party and just attending that! Golden Dawn Arkestra DJ set!!! Playtime with intergalactically aware creator minds! Costumes! Visual art! Light show! Facebook event HERE!

We are in a revolution people! A revolution of social norms, a revolution of philosophy, a revolution of media, a revolution of theory about our place in the cosmos – a revolution on ALL fronts. It’s time we stop lamenting the problems and step into our power as creators of a new reality. This festival is a nexus point for like minds. Come PLAY!

the shadow

The Shadow by Steven Kenny

The Shadow. Otherwise known as the quintessential idea of “darkness” (or “evil,” or “the devil,” or “demons” — though more accurately understood as “unconsciousness”), the Shadow is the topic of the day right now, even if many don’t realize it directly. All of these exposés, confessions, and rapid change of public opinion regarding formerly strong-held institutions are verrrrry shadowy in nature.

But what exactly is the Shadow? How do you actually define it?

Well, like anything in Carl Jung’s realm of absolutely pregnant ideas, the definition is fluid and largely relative to the context you’re discussing it in. But you could basically say that the Shadow is an aspect of our subconscious – in other words, everything that lives in the underbelly of our human (or animalistic) nature. It is the swampy, soupy, icky energy of our “dark side” that we don’t want to admit to having – the seedier and more raw sides to our personality – our “personal demons,” as it were.

Though significantly, it doesn’t really have to be “dark” as in “evil.” “Dark” in the more precise understanding moreso means “unconscious” or “unknown,” i.e. literally not illuminated by your conscious mind, and thus unable to be seen (it’s the same idea with the word “occult,” which most people think means “evil” or “satanic,” but it really just means “hidden,” in reference to secret, often magical, knowledge).

The reason why you want to learn about this is because there is a huge chance that you’re driven by your unconscious mind unknowingly. You know how public figures get taken down once their dark side comes to light? Well like them, in anything you do (especially publicly), your shadow traits are liable to being “found out” and used against you. So the only defense is for you to find out and heal those parts of you FIRST.

Plus, to truly manifest what you want in this world, and to be absolutely certain that your cause is noble and not in truth detrimental, you must make sure that there are no drives in your unconscious mind operating against your conscious desires. You could be sabotaging yourself (and others) without even knowing it!

I have put together some rudimentary elements that I think are important when considering the Shadow, which all things considered, is quite a vast topic. So while lengthy, this is by no means an exhaustive exploration, and rather a foundational basis from which you can then start to dig for your own understanding. This is depth psychology, and it’s not for everyone, because everyone simply does not have the capacity to understand it. I have tried to bring it down, but it’s a very abstract concept generally speaking, and there’s a LOT to it, so if you’re feeling up to it – grab your backpack, put on your safari hat and let’s get to exploring!

Oh yeah, and please keep your hands inside the car AT ALL TIMES! I can assure you that you are perfectly safe, but the Shadow does not fuck around. So get ready for a long ride through the Underworld, and remember to stay alert, ya heard?  ۞

paradox of mastery peak

I often think about the idea of mastery, and what it actually is, and how it fits in to goals that most people have in some area of their life. You know – like how some people want to master chess, some people want to master fishing, I want to master my ego…. This is the quintessential journey of life, the long trip between “who knows what the f*ck I’m even doing here” & “what is even going on??!” all the way to “oh wow, I actually have a handle on this shizz!”

I see it like a mountain peak. You spend your whole life meandering up the mountain, finding your way through challenges and tragedies, through triumphs and amazing new views. Some people go straight up the mountain and stick to the trail, i.e. practicing every single day, disciplined and steady, a linear path to the top… And others take a more scenic route, stopping at various lookout points, maybe retracing some steps or taking a lateral route for a bit to see another great view. The right-brain path. Going where their intuition and creativity decide to take them.

And most people are a mix in between, of course. There is no wrong or right in this great trip we call life… Everything is just expression and discovery. And that is a beautiful thing because you can’t mess it up, since even “mess ups” are still just expression and discovery. (And while we’re on the topic of mistakes, I will say, that for me, the biggest mistakes of my life turned into the greatest of wins…)

Well on the topic of mastery – I see it as a paradox, because everyone who has ever stuck with something long enough to actually master it knows, that immediately upon reaching the so-called “peak,” you look out from that high perspective which you spent all that time climbing to, and you think, wow, there are sooooo many other peaks! I am hardly 5% of the way done!

In other words, any true master knows that there is no such thing as “mastery”! You get to the point where you have a good enough handle on things, but then you realize with humility– there are sooooo many other things to learn, and really, you will never actually “ARRIVE”! That is the great joke, thinking you’ll “get there” at some future point in time.

And thus the paradox of mastery, as I call it, is the unexpected truth that there are no masters, only students, and being the eternal student is actually what is meant by “mastery.” Because even young children, homeless people, “crazy” people, old people, hurting people, ignorant people – they all can be your teacher if you remain the ever humble eternal student.

So really. We’re all just learning how to do things even if we’ve been doing this a long time. And nobody is actually very clear on what the heck is going on at any given time and we’re all just figuring it out. Doesn’t that comfort you a little to think about?

Wild world!

Back in the day – and by that I mean like, 5,000 years ago – humans placed great emphasis on their shrines. Having a shrine or altar meant that one could access God in the daily human experience. It was understood as a central part of one’s daily life, as the foundation of one’s prayer or spiritual practice. In Feng Shui, altars are considered the place where God force comes in to your home. So if you have no altar? God hesitates to come in!

On the individual level, this common custom meant they had altars (or “courtyards”) at the heart of every home, often with sacred items representing their ancestors, deities, and perhaps energy of different forces like love or money or health. On the collective level, this manifested as temples at the heart of every city, often with a sacred “inner sanctum” at the core (a shrine within a shrine if you will).

I mean think about it. What if, instead of TVs being what our “living” rooms are centered around, what if every home in America had an altar to their spirituality at the center?

My blood boils when I think of how cities are built now, with everything so jarring and grimy and soulless. Very little is sacred in big cities, with the only nature being in parks which are (typically) not well maintained. This extreme lack of intention in our environment sets us up for confusion, scatteredness, and self-fractioning as we pass through these spaces with energetic difficulty.

A classic book on the topic I have yet to read all of but which has profoundly affected me nonetheless is one called A Pattern Language. It’s written by an architect with a divine understanding of the subtler implications of buildings, and the arrangement of buildings, in terms of how it affects our human experience. This is a field called “environmental psychology” which is FASCINATING. But my point in bringing up this book is that in one chapter he talks about the effects of a city with a courtyard in the middle, in stark contrast to a city with a dump in the middle. You can imagine the dynamic differences in energy these scenarios generate for the whole.

On a more practical level, I think of my altar as an anchor of my spiritual and psychic energy. Every day, I wake up and sit down and make an offering there, which connects me to my source. It is a centralization of my spiritual force – my willpower, creativity, passion, and divinity accumulate there into a reverberating orb of energy that envelops my whole house in a glorious state of nurturing and upliftment. This makes it easier for me to maintain higher vibrations.

With a well-loved and well-tended altar, your home can become a temple.

And besides the obvious benefits of accumulating high-vibrational energy in one place, it also encourages a habit of prayer or meditation practice, as it is designed for engagement and relishment as one gazes over their most sacred objects.

As simple as it is, I believe this is a huge way to shift consciousness quickly, for not only individuals but whole societies! And it’s really simple to start one. Most people have everything already lying around.

First, designate the place and form it will take – this can be with a piece of furniture such as a small shelf or table, or it can be more simple such as a cloth on the floor. Next, find or purchase some sort of pillow/rug/blanket to place before the altar. This will be what invites you to the practice so make it enticing – fluffy & cushioned – go PLUSH on this! Luxuriate!

Then the fun part – you get to go all over your house collecting the most sacred things you can find. Crystals or stones, musical instruments, photos, representations of deities, objects representing something sacred for you, anything goes. Ideally you cleanse and “bless” everything you choose with concentrated attention (and sage or holy water). Typically you want to include at least one candle, an incense or oil burner, a bell or chime if you have one, and some kind of plate and bowl (one to hold sage bundles etc, and the bowl for giving offerings).

Activities you can participate in at your altar: lighting incense, anointing yourself with oils, charging your crystals with Love, chanting, singing, and/or playing music, lighting candles, giving offerings to deities (wine, fruit, coins, etc), expressing gratitude, setting intentions (or using EFT aka “tapping” with affirmations)… often you’ll end up just plain meditating no matter where you start out.

The creativity is up to you. There is no right or wrong! (Unless you spell it “alter.” That is WRONG.) I like to have several altars around my house, all working out or “holding” different things. Most of the time I am working with a deity or two in particular (see the picture above for my current!). Of course, I always emphasize the central altar though, as the “hearth” of your home and centerpoint to your practice, and ultimately, the place where God force is invited in.

I hope you take this as seriously as I do and MAKE ONE! And then you can make one for your parents and your friends and your gatherings….

Life will never be the same. And why should it, anyway?  😉

Cooking eggs one morning, and I think to myself simply, “I believe in everybody’s ability to grow.”

(New fave affirmation like WHOA!)

It came out of nowhere, and swiftly, like a dart into my mind from God— deep and clear, like the ringing of an ancient gong. Immediately upon thinking it I felt a warmth and a blooming and a blending with All that is, right there in the middle of my kitchen cooking eggs, my whole body enlivened with the joy at thinking this thought. In my mind’s eye, the vibration of acceptance melts away any resistance I have ever had, to anyone, at any time in my history, and in its place is simply left acceptance, and gratitude, and trust that there was a reason.

I love moments like these.

(Now, when this kind of thing happens to me it is usually spontaneous, and I know by now that it’s best to “surf the wave” as it were, to amplify and engage myself into the emotional experience.)

So naturally and without thinking, I lovingly apply this salve to all of those I feel need it – to those whom I perceive to be the most “stuck” in my family, to those who have hurt me, to those who are haunted by every wrong thing they have ever done against others, to those who sleep on the street at night, to those who weave the wicked web of the world, to those who don’t know what world they’re in (when really they’re in the mental ward), to anyone I have ever known whom I have judged or criticized or belittled because of their ways—

Liberated and alchemized by the simple power of this beautiful, supreme thought:

I believe in everybody’s ability to grow.

Can you believe in this too? 🙂

Ok, so I really like sidewalk chalk, right? As in, I regularly drive around with a basket full of chalk in my trunk, in case the urge hits me to leave a “mark.” I do it under mischievous circumstances usually. Maybe I’m resonating with a good quote at the time, or I think of a really good question to ask strangers to ask of themselves, or there’s a nice message that I would like to hear from the Universe if I were walking along…

In any event, every time I do it, there’s this amazing arc of emotion to it. First the anticipatory mischief and joy at scheming for the highest good of all, then the thrill of actually executing the act, then the satisfaction of knowing I uplifted at least one person. The after effects of joy and satisfaction can last for days.

I also get a kick out of the fact that the most mundane of things – like the sidewalk or a stone or a wall – can be made Divine in this way. Because while I do it, my entranced attention expands like a mushroom into the space, fluttering up into the area around me, implanting a Divine and eternal resonance for all who happen to come upon it in their day.

The mystique of the all-powerful glitterbomb. For all who are aware enough to notice it, the Love from this act is theirs to drink in. There is no logic in it, only feeling – the feeling of Love for all of creation. You imprint a vibration that resonates in the memory of the space there, uplifting it with the vibration of Love, and all who pass through can feel the Divinity there whether they notice it or not.

I love how simple it is. You are reminded of the Divine Spark running through EVERYTHING by something as seemingly mundane as a chalk message on the sidewalk.

Talk about the magic in the every day….

* * *

I first heard the term “glitterbomb” at a party in the Houston art/warehouse scene probably around 2014. I remember I was speaking with a girl passionate about activism, and she was telling me about the concept of “glitterbombing,” which was when certain activists would take a handful of glitter and throw it at their opponents. But that was too extreme for some, and it kinda got spun into this new “milder” thing, where they would leave positive messages to others in very inconspicuous ways. It was understood to be a sort of “wink” to those who were aware – this beautiful idea of leaving playful, uplifting signs to encourage people who are paying enough attention to take note.

One of the things I remember her describing was her friend who was a waitress that would write loving things on sugar packets, and watch for who noticed them or not.

What an amazing concept, right!? I love doing this with chalk, but what if we ALL did that, ALL the time? What if you were constantly bombarded with positive messages sent to you by other humans like you? What if there was a whole movement of people planting positive signs EVERYWHERE, and we just lived in this amazing culture of expressed human love?

* * *

Other examples I can think of are going to bookstores or libraries and leaving kind notes in books, putting messages in people’s windshield wipers, taking dry erase markers to public bathroom mirrors, leaving posts on Craigslist “Missed Connections,” bombing people’s social media with praise, writing things in the dirt at the trailhead….

You can also think of your own! Let’s combat the dark tentacles of modern advertising with JOY sent human heart to human heart. I know I would looooove to see more things like this happening in the world, wouldn’t you? ^_^
